Help with hanging a light fixture from the ceiling?
I bought this light fixture - a cafe style lamp - that hangs from the ceiling by a chain and can be plugged in. I want to hang it above my stove but when I try to screw a hook into the ceiling to hang the lamp from the hook just pushes right through the ceiling. Is there some kind of special hook I could use or am I doing something wrong? I'm not really sure what the ceiling is made of but it is textured.
You should try to find a joist to screw into, those toggle-things are ok for wall-mount purposes, but do you want that thing breaking loose and falling on a small child or pet, or you?
